Landscape or portrait mode?

One of the most common questions that my circuits receive is: “Marton, should I create the video vertically or horizontally?”
The answer is very simple: It depends where you want to show the video. Your customers use a variety of devices — and we want your property to look perfect on every screen.
Here is my little guide for you:
📺 1. Landscape mode (16:9) — The classic
You know landscape mode from the television or from the cinema. It's wide and cinematic.
When should you choose this format?
- Real estate portals: ImmoScout24, Immowelt & Co.
- Digital exposés: When you integrate the video directly into your PDF or online synopsis.
- Your website: Wide videos look best on a desktop PC.
- YouTube (default): For classic YouTube channel videos.
- LinkedIn & Facebook (desktop): Especially when your customers are sitting at the computer (e.g. in the office), the wide format in the feed looks more reputable and fills out the player optimally.
Why
Here, your pictures have plenty of space to breathe. Especially in spacious gardens or wide living rooms, this looks very elegant and familiar.
📱 2. Portrait mode (9:16) — The social media star
Portrait mode is the format of a smartphone. Since we all almost always hold our mobile phones upright, this format uses the entire screen off.
When should you choose this format?
- Instagram (Reels & Stories)
- TikTok
- YouTube shorts
- WhatsApp Status
- Facebook & LinkedIn (mobile app): When you know that your target audience is almost only looking at their mobile phones.
Why
Get videos in portrait format on social media much more attention. A cross-video often looks tiny on a mobile phone. An upright video fills the entire display — the customer literally dives into the property.
My AI magic trick: From cross to high!
Now you might be thinking: “But Marton! After all, I took all my photos in landscape mode with the wide-angle camera. If I simply take a vertical section, I can hardly see anything of the room anymore!”
That's true — but not for me!
Simply cropping a wide-angle photo usually results in a “Tunnel vision”. You only see a narrow stripe in the middle, the sense of space is lost and everything looks tight.
But my AI processors are doing something crazy:
I don't just cut out. I use cutting-edge artificial intelligence to virtually Change camera lens retrospectively.
- Expand space: I calculate with pixel accuracy what the floor and ceiling look like would have toif you had held the camera differently.
- Maintain wide angle: I “equalize” the image in such a way that the generous wide-angle look is retained, even if the video is upright.
- Set focus: I automatically recognize the center of the room and make sure that nothing important is cut off.
For you, that means:
You can normally your landscape photos upload. Just choose Portrait mode and I'll turn it into a perfect social media video for you, in which the room looks just as big and open as in the original photo.
