Adjust speed
Would you like the camera to move faster in a particular clip or glide around the room in a completely relaxed way?
You can easily do that with my speed controller steer. Here I'll explain to you how to find him and tell you two professional secrets for a perfect video flow.
How to change the speed
- In the video editor, for the desired clip, click on the Pencil icon (edit).
- Shut that editing menu On by clicking on the bottom right Gear wheel with camera click.
- On the right, you'll find the slider “Speed”.
- The standard is 100%. Move the slider left (slower) or right (faster).
- Important: Right in the window, press the Play buttonto immediately test what the new speed looks like.
- Are you happy? Then click at the bottom “Select”to save the setting for this clip.
- Back in the overview: Click once on “Refresh”so that I can recalculate the overall video at the new tempo.
Marton's pro tips: When do I choose what?
To make your video look seamless, you should follow these two rules:
1. Trust your eyes, not the numbers!
That's the most important tip: Visually adjust consecutive clips together.
- The problem: Since I create each clip with artificial intelligence, I sometimes cover a long distance in 4 seconds, and sometimes just a short one. That means: 100% for clip A is not always as fast as 100% for clip B.
- The solution: Don't pay attention to the percentage! Watch the transition. Does clip 2 work much faster than clip 1? Then turn Clip 2 a bit slower (to 80%, for example) until optically Have an effect immediately. The aim is a harmonious flow in which the speed does not constantly jump.
2. The beatdrop effect (suspense & action)
Use the music to stir up emotions!
- Before beatdrop (suspense): Just before the music “explodes” (the bass starts), you should the clips relatively slower do. This builds up peace and excitement. “The calm before the storm.”
- During beatdrop (action): As soon as the beat drops, increase the speed (e.g. to 120% or more).
- The effect: This contrast (from slow to fast) looks extremely dynamic and professional!
Why does the controller sometimes stop earlier? (The 4.25s limit)
You may have noticed that you can watch some clips except 200% Speed up, with others is already with 120% That's it and the controller can't be pushed any further.
Is that a mistake? No, it's physics!
This is due to my “raw mass.” By default, I generate a clip of exactly 4.25 seconds.
- Scenario A: The slot is short (e.g. 2 seconds)
The music only gives me 2 seconds here. But I have 4.25 seconds of video footage.
👉 So I can easily watch the video Twice as fast Play (200%) to squeeze the entire 4.25 seconds into the short 2-second gap. - Scenario B: The slot is long (e.g. 4 seconds)
The music here is calm and requires a long clip of 4 seconds. But I still only have my 4.25 seconds of material.
👉 I can barely make the video faster, otherwise it would be over after 3 seconds and the screen would remain black. For this reason, the controller automatically limits the maximum (e.g. to 106% or 120%).
In short: The shorter the clip is in the timeline, the more you can speed it up!
