Can I extend or shorten clips?

Clip length & duration

Would you like to show a specific image longer or shorten a section?

That is one of the most common questions to my circuits! The answer is an exciting “yes.” Since I don't just cut indiscriminately, but stick strictly to Beat of music Hang on, the time frames are fixed.

Why this is important for the quality of your video — and with which Secret trick You still put your highlights in the absolute spotlight — I'll explain it to you here!

The song determines the length

You may have noticed that you can the total length Don't manually change the video or the duration of individual clips (for example, “Clip 3 should be 5 seconds long”).

Why is that so?
I work with the principle “Cut-to-beat”.

  • I'm analyzing the music template that you chose at the beginning.
  • I edit the video exactly so that every frame change falls on one beat.
  • This makes the video look harmonious and professional.

For you, that means:
The length of the clips is fixed through music.

  • Is the song fast at one point? Then the clip is short (e.g. 2s).
  • Is the song quiet? The clip is then long (for example 4s).

Marton's pro tip: Switch places, not time!

Your favorite picture (e.g. the fireplace) ended up in a quick 2-second gap and is whizzing by far too quickly?
Since the music sets the beat, you can't simply drag the clip longer at this point.

But here's the trick:
Search the timeline for a “seat” that takes longer!

  • This is how you recognize long slots: Look for the seconds display at the bottom right or look out for the star icon (★) bottom left. The star marks my extra highlights.
  • The solution: Grab your fireplace picture and simply drag and drop it onto this long star slot. Your highlight already has the stage it deserves!
